Raised at Naga Hills Tuensang Area (NHTA) in July 1961 and located at Dimapur. Area of responsibility included Nagaland, Manipur, Mizo Hills and Lohit division of NEFA. At present Project is responsible for roads in Nagaland, Manipur and MEA Road in Myanmar.
Construction of prestigious 160 Km Tamu-Kalemyo-Kalewa Road in Myanmar in a record time of three years, construction, double laning and maintenance of NH 39 from Dimapur to Maram, NH 53 from Imphal to Jiribam, construction and maintenance of Kohima-Jessami-Ukhrul, Churachandpur-Tipaimukh, Zunheboto-Aghunato-Kiphire and NEC Roads Akhegwo-Waziho-Washelo, Kohima-Leike, Maram-Peren, Wokha-Bokajan, Longmatra-Likimro are some major works of the Project.
Besides construction of allied works for the Likimro Hydel Project, Earth Satellite Station at Kiphire, accommodation for an Inf Bn at Rangapahar and for Manipur Police in Imphal, Helibase at Leimakong, and Raj Bhawan Annexe at Kohima are the land mark construction by the Project. Prestigious work of construction of a township for Assam Rifles at Kaithalmanbi is in progress.
The Project continues to earn accolades for its dedicated services and provision of reliable and smooth road communication in both the States, both for Army as well as the people of the States of Nagaland and Manipur inspite of insurgency and inclement weather. |
