2. The Border Roads Organisation is a symbol of Nation Building and National Integration and has become an inescapable component in maintaining the security and integrity of the Nation. Its pivotal role in constructing and maintaining operational road infrastructure for the armed forces in inhospitable, far flung border areas and contribution to the socio-economic development of the region has been legendry. Its ability during war has been repeatedly proven. This is the result of over 50 years of toil, unwavering dedication, unmatched professionalism and sacrifice of the officers, supervisors, subordinates and CPLs, from whom the organisation derives its strength. 3. While a great deal has been achieved, the porous and difficult terrain along the borders, combined with the more recent developments across it, have added an urgency to better border management and road access to these areas. The expectations from the Border Roads Organisation have thus grown exponentially, leaving us with an even more challenging task ahead. This demands the highest level of professionalism, the ability to adapt to more modern techniques and synergy in action - doing what the organisation has always done, even better. 4. We need to derive inspiration from our rich history; glorious traditions and inspiring motto 'Shramena Sarvam Sadhyam' that has always helped us grow from strength to strength. 5. Today, as I assume command of this elite organisation, I pay homage to all those brave hearts of the BRO who have made the supreme sacrifice; express my gratitude to all my illustrious predecessors whose vision and foresight have guided us to this high level of professionalism and laid strong foundation for us to successfully meet the challenges ahead; and to each member of this fine team for always rising to the occasion � no matter how difficult. 6. I wish all members of the Border Roads Organisation and their families, success, good health and happiness.
